Audience focus groups


I aim to make my target audience both male and female but primarily females aged between 17 - 25. I think that my audience will mainly be female because Lorna, who is posing as the artist in the music video, is a female and is a teenager. Therefore attracting an audience of a similar age group as they will be able to relate to her more. I also think that my audience will be students who have an interest in Indie and Alternative music, students usually speak about attending gigs and enjoying them especially over social network sites such as twitter for example.

As I and my friends group are of the age of my target audience I have taken into consideration the way I act I have noticed that now that I'm getting older I take much more effort in my appearance and the way I am viewed by others, and so does the majority of my friends. I think with the way I am that the target audience will take the artist as an inspiration through the way she dressed and her makeup for example, Charlotte the cover model wears bright lipstick, mostly being reds or pinks. Younger girls will essentially aspire to look like Charlotte and begin wearing lipstick. The clothing she wears are highly appropriate and easy to replicate if the audience want to feel inspired by the way Charlotte dresses.


I have carried out research to find what attracts people into buying a CD and what makes them watch a music video. I made a little questionnaire and handed it out to different age groups so my findings could be generalised:





My findings were that people of the aged between 13-17 were more attracted to the exterior of the CD, how it looks and what attracts the audience to pick it up whereas people from the age 18-25 are more concerned about the actual music's sound.Younger audiences like bright colour's and pretty models on the front. They like to try interpret what people wear in their music videos and gain style tips. This supports my idea of making the artist stand out and admirable to all audience types.
